Join GPCA & Garfield Park Garden Network for a hands-on gardening workshop at Fulton Street Flower and Vegetable Garden. The workshop will focus on ecological fall clean up.
Together, we will clean 1 garden bed as we review what to leave standing versus what to cut, how to smother remaining weeds and how to decide if the plant material is worth composting. Afterwards, we will divide into smaller groups to practice what we have learned and ask questions.
Face masks are required because we will be working close to one another. Participants should wear a mask and comfortable clothing, including closed toe shoes, that they do not mind getting dirty. A limited number of gloves and hand gardening tools (pruners and weeders) will be provided for participants to borrow. Those who have their own gloves and hand tools are encouraged to bring them. Bring corrugated cardboard (plain, non-glossy boxes), spent coffee grounds (or tea leaves) and rinsed eggshells to mulch garden beds.
